dear Actors - you know i love you.....but....if you are trying to get a meeting with me (or any management or agency) a couple of things you should know that may help...
do your research.... know a bit about us....
don't blow smoke up my ass...does not impress me
know that i will also do my research about you....so be careful how you sell yourself.
don't pit me against other managers.....we actually talk to each other....sure we are competitive....but we also know there is enough to go around....
when you do get a meeting with me and i ask what went wrong with the last manager....i am not asking you to talk shit.....i am asking what didn't work....(maybe it won't work here either)
when you are taking meetings it's ok to let the folks you are meeting know.....
if you decide to sign somewhere else....that is fine....we will wish you well....but don't come back in a few months saying you made a mistake and can you now sign with us......(remember....we do talk and that does not look good to either one of us....)
there are lots of great managers and agents out there.....you don't need to be with the biggest....you need to be with the one that will work hard for you and you can grow with....
if it really ain't broke....don't try and fix it (the grass is not always greener)
we love what we do......we may have different styles and cultures.....but a good manager is a good manager.
